Christ is Risen! We celebrated Easter together with a school-wide Easter egg hunt! We love learning about Christ's love for us and the joy that comes from being His beloved children.
As our Lenten mission and collection, students donated boxes of cereal for St. Joseph's Social Care. Students collected 89 boxes of cereal. The kindergarten students sorted the kinds of cereal and counted the boxes.
St. Michael's Receives Accreditation
St. Michael's Catholic School announced today that it has earned accreditation by Cognia™, a nonprofit organization that provides quality assurance for schools, school districts, and education service providers.
Cognia, formerly AdvancED, nationally recognizes districts that meet rigorous standards focused on productive learning environments, equitable resource allocation that meets the needs of learners, and effective leadership. Earning accreditation from the Cognia Global Accreditation Commission means that the school is accredited, and that St. Michael's Catholic School is recognized across the nation as a school that meets Cognia Standards of Quality, and maintains a commitment to continuous improvement.
“School accreditation as conferred by the Cognia Global Accreditation Commission provides St. Michael's Catholic School a nationally recognized mark of quality for our school,” shared Sara Dudley, principal. “It demonstrates to our community our commitment to excellence, our openness to external review and feedback, and our desire to be the best we can be on behalf of the students we serve.”
To earn Cognia accreditation, a school also must implement a continuous process of improvement, and submit to internal and external review. Schools in good standing can maintain their accreditation for a five-year term.
The St. Michael's School playground was last renovated in 1998 and is in need of replacement. The playground will require new ground cover, privacy fence, and play structures. The students are collecting pledges for a SWING-A-THON on May 8 & 9. We have received donations and sponsorships to help fund the playground too! Thank you to the St. Michael's Board of Education for the delicious treats on the last TEACHER RECOVERY DAY of the 2020-2021 school year. On TEACHER RECOVERY DAYS, teachers and staff plan and prepare for instruction, both face-to-face and remote for our quarantined learners.
The first graders helped to lead Mass on Thursday. They demonstrated the Fruit of the Holy Spirit of FAITHFULNESS as they shared the Mass with our community.
