The Bread of Life; Meditation for Sunday from St. Michael's, plus other news
the Bread of Life
"Man at the bread of angels, food he sent them in abundance" - Psalm 78
The Israelites were fed in the desert by the bread from heaven, and Jesus declares himself to be the new Bread of Life: "whoever comes to me will never hunger, and whoever believes in me will never thirst." (John 6:35).
Do you hunger for God? It's so easy to fill up our days with stress, busy work, and entertainment, that we ignore the deeper hunger we all have for something more. Christ wants to fill us with his very Body in the Eucharist and provide for us, through the Church, the only place where our hunger can be satisfied.
Watch this short video below from
Fr. Blake Britto
from our new series Catholicism 101, to learn more about how the Church was given the authority from Christ to provide us with this Bread of Heaven in every Mass:
"We been taught that the food which is blessed by the prayer of His word, and from which our blood and flesh by transmutation are nourished, is the flesh and blood of that Jesus who was made flesh."
St. Justin Martyr, 100-165 AD
Questions for Additional Reflection:
How do you feel nourished by God?
What can you do to make room for prayer this week?
Thank you to all who helped make our Parish Picnic a success this year! May God bless you! Have a blessed weekend.
